“Lively – inspiring – knows her stuff”
These are the three ‘words’ that are often used to describe my speaking style and content. I mainly speak to students, graduates and postgraduates within university settings on the subject of careers and job-hunting strategies.
Some of my most popular keynotes include:
- Who moved my silver platter? – 7 realities graduates must face in today’s job market
- 3 keys to improving your employability while you study
- How to sell your degree skills for employment
I also run practical and interactive CV workshop sessions and seminars based on my book 7 Keys to a Winning CV. These sessions are perfect companions to the keynotes but they can also be booked as standalone sessions, depending on the type of event you are hosting.
If you require a bespoke keynote or workshop within the field of careers and job hunting, I will do my best to accommodate you – please contact me to discuss this (you may find it helpful to read some of my blog posts to get an idea of my areas of knowledge within this context).

“Mildred is the perfect speaker for our students…..lively, likeable and infectiously enthusiastic…”
“In the last couple of years I have twice invited Mildred Talabi to come in and talk to third year undergraduates and final semester post graduates in Media and Journalism as part of a week of lunchtime lectures about getting into the media. She is the perfect speaker for our students, both as an LMU graduate herself, and as a lively, likeable and infectiously enthusiastic exponent of the skills of applying for jobs (and CV writing in particular) and the day- to-day practicalities of entering the daunting worlds of print and the media.
The students were all delighted with her, both as a live speaker and for her follow through and follow up in answering questions both during the session and by email later. She is candid about the reality of working freelance and juggling different paymasters and opportunities – increasingly inseparable from a media career and is encouraging about being entrepreneurial but also demystifying the perils of setting up your own business as something that anyone can do, just as she did, with enough imagination and determination.
I would heartily recommend Mildred as a speaker to other student audience – and not only for Media Studies.”

“Mildred spoke from the heart without the need for notes or a formal presentation…..she was received very enthusiastically by all students”
“I invited Mildred to speak to my students about entrepreneurship as the winner of Lambeth Council’s Brand Amplifier programme for Women Entrepreneurs. When I first met Mildred prior to this, she impressed me with her confidence, energy and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and all forms of self-development and expression. I knew straightaway that she would be able to establish an immediate and strong rapport with our undergraduate entrepreneurship students.
Mildred spoke from the heart without the need for notes or a formal presentation. She gave a very vivid and heart-warming story of her life journey where enterprise and education were keystones to her development and her family her inspiration. She was received very enthusiastically by all students.
Mlidred is very charming and she makes everyone relax and listen to her fascinating life story. She is a young serial entrepreneur ready and willing to try new things and never give up. These are just the sorts of values and attitudes we want in our students. She is the perfect role model.”

“I was impressed with Mildred’s ability to connect to her audience……the audience were engaged and attentive and came away with some excellent advice and guidance.”
“Mildred Talabi was a guest speaker at Southampton Solent University’s ‘Spotlight on Jobs and Employers’ event. Mildred spoke about the skills students and graduates require to enter the world of work and gave advice about the best ways to sell themselves.
I was impressed with Mildred’s ability to connect to her audience and the positive approach she had to the session. The audience were engaged and attentive and came away with some excellent advice and guidance.
Mildred also spoke on a panel about ‘Starting Your Own Business’ which again provided the students and graduates with relevant and practical advice based on her own experiences. What an inspiration! I would recommend colleagues to hear Mildred speak at events in the future.”

“Mildred is a fantastic public speaker who knows her stuff!”
“Mildred delivered a guest lecture to our undergrads on the realities of the job market & the benefits of social media to the job hunt.
Mildred wowed both students and careers staff alike with an engaging and informative talk that was just the right balance of motivating the students to take action regarding their future careers while also calming some of their nerves by showing the truth behind the headlines relating to the job market. Mildred is a fantastic public speaker who knows her stuff! I would recommend her to anyone!”

“Many thanks for coming down and running the two sessions so enthusiastically. There was a real buzz from students after both your sessions and Caroline has, like you, already received some very positive feedback.
In addition, my team who deal with most students face to face at drop-in and in weekly workshops, are already adjusting some of our materials and advice on CVs! Not including references or a comment about referees, for example. So thank you very much for keeping students and staff and myself on the ball!”
